My first gummy smile

The best reward for a severely sleep deprived, stressed out mother is to see her child’s first genuine smile. That was what just happened and I was very sure that she wasn’t just passing wind. My heart melted and so did the tiredness and aches. I thought to myself "She recognizes me!". Nothing else mattered. Everything seems worthwhile.

Harby will protest with my next comment but I’m quite sure that she gave her first smile to ME. Now every day, I look forward seeing more beaming, gummy baby smiles from Sydnie.
