A sick Sarah
Sarah was supposed to go for her 18th month jab on 21st of June weekend. However our babysitter called harby on Friday informing that Sarah was having fever and it didn’t seem to go down even after medication. Sarah was also very fussy and obviously very uncomfortable. I was a bit concerned hearing that. I thought of bringing her to the doc immediately but I have a meeting scheduled that afternoon. After discussion with harby we decided that harby will bring her to the doc on the way back home from our babysitter’s place.
Still looking so adorable, albeit being sickThat evening, Sarah came back and greeted me with wet eyes, walked towards me holding a small plastic bag containing her medicine. Harby said that she cried at the doc’s clinic. Apparently she doesn’t like doctors (and barbers). I wiped off her tears with my hands and asked harby what the doc said. He said the doc saw red spots in her throat and she’s probably having infection. That explains the fever. That night and the following nights was a very difficult time for harby and me. Sarah was continuously fussy and crying ALL THE TIME! She couldn’t sleep (which means we couldn’t sleep as well) and she didn’t want to drink milk or eat ANYTHING. She only continuously asked for water. Nothing seemed to help and Sarah was having very high fever especially at night.

Yes, that's a real tear-drop
Unable to stop Sarah from crying and to reduce her pain the next day, I suggested to bring Sarah down for a walk, hopefully it would divert her pain. So off we went. Mummy, despite having all the mummy-ness quality didn't forget to bring along her *ahem* new camera to take some pictures of Sarah. Bringing Sarah down for some fresh air and bringing along my camera (just to justify the decisionagain) proved to be a correct move, see the pictures below.

Seeing Sarah's smile brought in some much-needed relieve to me
It was Sunday and there was no sign of recovery. Out of ideas and desperately finding an end to Sarah's (and our) misery, I insisted harby to bring her to Sarah’s pediatrician. Dr. Chan said that Sarah had 5-6 very big ulcers in her throat. Therefore it’s not surprising that she is refusing milk. He suggested us to give her ice-cream (Wow, fancy that. A doctor officially declared ice-cream as FOOD. Now which child wouldn't jump for joy to hear that). He also prescribed a stronger antibiotic to fight the infection. Now I’m normally not an antibiotic fan but seeing her condition, anything, anything at all as long she recovers… and recover FAST! Surprisingly Sarah didn’t enjoy the ice-cream... probably because swallowing was painful for her. But the new antibiotic proved to be our life saver. Immediately after taking that, Sarah’s fever went away. We managed to coax her to drink 3 oz of milk the next day. One day later, Sarah was well on the road to recovery! Yay. Hurry to Sarah, Daddy and Mummy!… and finally after the severe lack of sleep, we can hopefully hope for some rest in the days ahead.
