Chou Shun Kan Korean BBQ

October 2008 celebration #2 was dinner at Chou Shun Kan, a Korean restaurant near harby's office. We’ve never been there before and therefore decided to give it a try. Parking at this area can be unnerving at times because it may be quite difficult for get or a space and there are often many inconsiderate people who do not bother that their cars are blocking others. Lucky for us, harby had the seasonal parking pass :D.

I think this shop is probably better known for their BBQ. Each table has something that look like a smoke ventilator built over the table, probably to absorb the smoke from the BBQ. The shop offers several different set dinners that include BBQ. Since harby decided to stay away from high cholesterol food for the time being and I will not be able to finish it all by myself, we ended up ordering ala-cart instead. I ordered Bibimbab and harby ordered kimchi-chigae. As I’ve briefly explained in my earlier post, kimchi-chigae is a stew-like Korean dish made from kimchi and a whole lot of other ingredients. On the other hand, Bibimbab is a dish of rice topped with colorful selection of vegetables, meat and runny egg. This dish is usually cooked and served in heavy stoneware bowl and your food will remain warm for a very, very long time.. believe me. To eat this, take a dollop of the chili that comes together with this dish and mix it with everything in the bowl. I’m not sure whether it’s bad luck that both of us ordered the wrong dish but we didn’t think the food was great.

Sarah scrutinizing the menu.
Sarah actually told the waitress that she wanted "roti canai". Yes, the waitress was stunned for a moment.
