Breakfast @ Joo Leong cafe
I think many people will kill me hearing me say this but I’m really wondering what’s THE umph factor drawing so many customers here? Many people are willing wait patiently for other customers to vacate their tables. I’m not saying that the food here doesn’t taste good, I mean the roti bakar taste like roti bakar and half boiled egg was well cooked. If you want, you can dunk your roti bakar into the half boil egg. However there’s really nothing special. Probably it’s the nostalgic feeling that the customers enjoy. The service is fast but price wise it’s not really cheap as well. (Hm.. but nothing is cheap nowadays.) .
Sarah had a few generous helpings of roti bakar that morning, courtesy from mummy.
Sarah looking intently at how an uncle was slicing the bread using a machine
Yummy! Sarah chewing on her roti bakar.
Something worth nothing down is that this coffee shop also serves seafood porridge and salt-baked chicken at night. Both of that, this time, I must say is really good. The seafood porridge is cooked using really fresh ingredients. You can choose what you would like to have in your porridge (at different prices, of course) and they’ll have it delivered to your table in no time. You can also choose to have your seafood served with bee hoon. The soup is sweet and not too salty. The salt-baked-chicken is actually baked with some herbs. The chicken is really tender and juicy. As you take a bite on the chicken you would be able to smell the subtle smell of the herbs which is not too over-powering. As usual business is brisk too at night and as usual you may find it hard to get a table :D.
